As we’re regular visitors to De Nieuwe Anita for gigs and weekend events, it was an honour for Amsterdam Vinyl Club to stage our first show in one of the city’s most iconic venues.

We were delighted to welcome Sophia Sigma to the decks. A DJ who describes herself as an “Opera Techno Siren”, Sophia chose AVC to play her very first vinyl-only set – and judging by the cheers at the end, we all thought it was a triumph!

Robert Tylutki opened the evening with his first-ever guest set for Amsterdam Vinyl Club, setting the scene for an eclectic evening with a selection of deep dub sounds.

Returning favourites also made a welcome return to the AVC decks, bringing everything from soul and disco to Indian fusion, underground electronics and post-punk classics.

DJ Tea & 2 Sugars kept the atmosphere upbeat with a joyful selection of Northern Soul, disco, lovers rock and guilty pleasures.

Deepak Nichani returned with another deeply personal selection, drawing connections between Indian classical music, fusion and electronic sounds through artists including Robert Miles, Karunesh and Alisha's Attic.

DJ Boudewijn played his second set for AVC, a selection that included alternative electronic music, trip-hop, breakbeat, ambient and other carefully selected underground sounds.

DJ Roland, closed the night with a set spanning post-punk, synth-pop and new wave favourites from artists including Suicide, Sparks, OMD, Soft Cell, Cabaret Voltaire and Underworld.

Then there was Dr Blackthorn, who closed the night with a swaggering glam rock set. But who was this mysterious selector? He just appeared and started spinning records. If you know who he is, let us know.
