An interview with Sean Sanchez

Welcome to Amsterdam Vinyl Club! Where do you come from?
I’m originally from the US and have been living in the Netherlands for about three years. I love living and digging in Amsterdam!

What sort of music turns you on?
I’ve been collecting vinyl since I was a little boy – so I’m interested in anything and everything. Anything that’s new, anything I’ve never heard of – no matter what the style is I’ll always give it a chance.

It’s actually really hard to talk about particular genres I like – I like a broad spectrum of sounds. What’s important to me is that a record just sounds good and makes people happy.

What sorts of things guide you when you're buying new records?
It really could be anything. The cover art, name of the artist or title, record label, of course the music on the record itself. My curiosity to hear something new that never leaves your mind.

What are you going to play for us tonight?
I'm going to spin some Balearic records, mostly records from the 80s and some special edits. Some wave, disco, funk, electronic and AOR.
